I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions.
Whatever I see, I swallow immediately.
Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike
I am not cruel, only truthful –
The eye of a little god, four-cornered.
Most of the time I meditate on the opposite wall.
It is pink, with speckles. I have looked at it so long
I think it is a part of my heart. But it flickers.
Faces and darkness separate us over and over.
Now I am a lake. A woman bends over me.
Searching my reaches for what she really is.
Then she turns to those liars, the candles or the moon.
I see her back, and reflect it faithfully
She rewards me with tears and an agitation of hands.
I am important to her. She comes and goes.
Each morning it is her face that replaces the darkness.
In me she has drowned a young girl, and in me an old woman
Rises toward her day after day, like a terrible fish.

"Naturally I do, but as I have already proven to you, I make mistakes like the next man. In fact, being-forgive me-rather cleverer than most men, my mistakes tend to be correspondingly huger."-Albus Dumbledore

Milwaukee Art Museum
Georgia O'Keefe, Pelvis I
Robert Motherwell, Two Figures with Stripe
Roy Lichtenstein, Crying Girl
Chuck Close, Nancy
Duane Hanson, Janitor
Alfred Stieglitz, The City of Ambition
Kees Van Dongen, Woman with Cat
Nicholas de Stael, Flowers
Some of my favorites from the Milwaukee Art Museum, which I visited last week while I was in town for a wedding. I'm sorry for the lack of updating, I'm going to try to get back in the habit again. My creativity and motivation has been severely lacking.

Jen Plaskowitz
Jen Plaskowitz is a MICA alum, and reminds me greatly of Francesca Woodman. I wish I could have met her, but she was studying abroad in Italy when I was last at MICA. All of the above images are printed with silver gelatin, which is another teasing reminder that I have been away from the dark room for entirely too long. On second thought, maybe the FW similarity goes hand in hand with Italy.
